What You Should Know About Buying A Home
......Everything! No but seriously, there is a lot that goes into buying a home, and I'm not just talking about money! There is much more to it than simply finding a house and writing a check. At least for 75% of the home buying population. So what are some key things to know when buying a home? Well without overwhelming you with a lot of info, here are my top 3 things I want my buyers to know going into this exciting time!
1. You need to be pre-approved for a mortgage.
Other than the fact that sellers wont look at an offer that doesn't have some guarantee of funds, you are denying yourself the greatest advantage by not doing this. "Oh I want to wait to find the perfect home before I get pre-approved":Says the home buyer. Conventional wisdom says: "You will find the perfect home, go to the lender to get pre-approved for your 250,000 dollar home, and then find out that your credit score wasn't what you thought it was and you can only qualify for 200,000, or worse, you have a collection showing up on your report, and you cant get approved at all. So do the wise thing and get pre approved first! Your agent can provide a great network of lenders to choose from!
2. You need to get educated on the overall process.

This is someone who will be honest with you, who knows the market, and will fight to get you where you want to be. This will be the biggest decision of your home buying process. The agent you choose determines your education on the process, and most likely what lender you use. So choose wisely!
